At a time of electoral disappointment, it is often easy to forget how much was accomplished in our efforts. Although we came up a few votes short of the goal, I am grateful to all those who helped me along the way.

As we close our campaign, I am posting this message on the website to once again say “thanks” for your interest in my campaign for Congress.

Our campaign came within a few thousand votes of making an historic change in our community. Despite numerous challenges and setbacks beyond our control, we came closer than any previous challenger to this incumbent. And in the process, I personally feel as if I found my voice on behalf of those who want more responsible government, better educational and economic opportunities, and a more tolerant community. These are principles for which I will continue to fight.

I believe that we are defined not by our setbacks, but by how we overcome them. The hard work to be done on the issues we care about just became harder, but we must remain resolute and never cede the field. I encourage you to continue to make your voice heard.

At the start of this campaign, I stated that life is often about the journeys we make together. Thank you for making this one with me. Perhaps we will make another in the future.
